The Culture Transformation Achievement Award

The Business Services Branch of the Ministry of Economic Development consists of specialized units that focus on providing online and other services to New Zealand businesses. These units include the Companies Office, the Insolvency & Trustee Service, the Intellectual Property Office, Crown Minerals, Radio Spectrum Management Group, the Insurance & Superannuation Unit, the Plant Variety Rights Office, the Personal Property Securities Register and Energy Safety Service.

The goal was to create a ‘client service culture’ - one that was resilient, flexible, and collegial and led the way in transitioning to excellence in e-government.

This required a committed focus on leadership – ensuring those in managerial positions showed genuine leadership to their people and each other and created, through their own leadership styles, a culture that enabled operational excellence.
