Grahame Maher started his current role in September 2001. Since then, Vodafone Australia has undergone some significant changes
. reducing capital spending by over 60%, operating costs by 40% and staff numbers from 3,200 to 1,700. Overall, the company has refocussed and become clear about its direction, strategy, values and brand the end result being a greatly improved EBITDA, with the Australian business generating cash returns to its shareholders for the first time.
Prior to this role, Grahame was Managing Director of Vodafone New Zealand, where he grew the business from 17% market share to 46% and the customer base from 120,000 to 1.1 million over a three-year period. Vodafones brand recognition in New Zealand rose from 2% to 98% during this time and the operation was one of the most profitable within the Vodafone Group.

Grahame has been involved with Vodafone for ten years, initially as a Service Provider based in South Australia. Previous to this, he ran several businesses dealing in Office Products and Communications.
When not working, Grahame likes to maintain his wifes retail habits and sometimes see his kids! He also enjoys some fitness training (mostly running), socialising and supporting non-profitable charitable organisations.
