Human Synergistics Managing Director, David Byrum introduces our 28th annual Human Synergistics Culture & Leadership conference – presented in both Melbourne and in Sydney, he explains how Human Synergistics specialises in developing and providing tools, information and proven change strategies that enable Individuals to discover, make aware, build acceptance and take action to be the best version of themselves everyday.
We work with teams to be highly performing, highly engaged and highly functioning units. We develop leaders and managers to understand the impact they have on their peers. And, lastly we help organisations build upon its culture to deliver its promises to their employees, customers and shareholders.
South Australia Cricket Association – Be Kind. Be Brave. Do Great Things Together!
South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) CEO Charlie Hodgson and GM People & Culture Lisa Coderre share SACA’s culture transformation journey with Human Synergistics. Despite great people and potential, the organisation was underperforming and lacked connection, accountability and alignment. With Lisa’s arrival, the focus shifted to people and culture, using Human Synergistics diagnostics and development to build a common language around leadership, behaviour and performance.
Through LSI, OCI and OEI, coaching and leadership development, SACA strengthened connection, trust and leadership consistency, supported by the values “Be Kind”, “Be Brave” and “Do Great Things Together.” In around 18 months, employee engagement increased from approximately 60–62 to 80, alongside broader organisational success, including increased participation, player development and SACA winning the Sheffield Shield for the first time in 29 years – demonstrating what can happen when people, leadership, strategy and culture align.
Plan Group – Building Better: Plan Group’s Leadership Journey.
Tony Davidson, Director and Chief Strategy Officer, and Nikki Sorensen People & Culture Manager of Plan Group present at the 2026 Human Synergistics Culture & Leadership Conference, reflecting on their development journey and the value of Human Synergistics in building greater self-awareness and encouraging continuous improvement. The HS tools have helped leaders recognise behaviours and opportunities for growth they may otherwise have gone an entire career without identifying, providing valuable insights into how they lead and work with others. Sharing their journey at the Human Synergistics Conference, the team highlighted the importance of recognising these opportunities, acting on feedback and continuing to develop both individually and collectively.
High Energy or Burnout? Building Constructive Cultures for the Future
Human Synergistics’ Ash Smith explores whether today’s organisations are creating the energy people need to perform—or unintentionally creating cultures of burnout. As work accelerates into the fifth industrial revolution and the age of AI, people face constant connectivity, information overload, rapid change and increasing performance expectations, often without sufficient opportunity to recover. Ash argues that burnout isn’t simply an individual issue: when demands consistently outweigh clarity, control, support and recovery, entire organisations can begin to experience lower trust, reduced innovation, slower decision-making and declining effectiveness. Constructive cultures offer an alternative, creating energy through clear purpose, learning, connection, accountability and support—helping people and organisations adapt and perform sustainably in an increasingly demanding world.
