Preferred operating culture

Example: Preferred Operating Culture

The preferred culture profile is derived from having senior organisational leaders complete a special version of the Organisational Culture Inventory (OCI) that asks them to describe the behavioural norms that would best help their organisation achieve its objectives.

This defines what should be expected and encouraged throughout the organisation to maximise its effectiveness.

It becomes the benchmark for organisational development. It allows us to report on a gap analysis basis between preferred and actual operating cultures.

A typical Preferred Culture Profile might be one where people are encouraged to use constructive behaviours such as::

  • pursue standards of excellence
  • take on challenging tasks
  • encourage and support others
  • maintain personal integrity
