I have been with Telstra (or its various
predecessors) since early 1961. In those 39 years I have occupied a wide range of tasks at
the front line of the business. I have worked closely with people and people management in
Telstra since approximately 1980. During that time I held senior positions in the Human
Resources area, specialising predominantly in Industrial Relations and Change Management.
In 1994, I choose to move to an "operational" area of the business where I had
the opportunity to work directly with large staff groups, to gain first hand experience
with the value of fostering an "empowered and enlightened" workforce. This was
Telstra's Information & Connection Services Group, an area where
success is defined by the commitment and ownership taken on by the front line people. Here
I have occupied positions of Regional Manager for Queensland, Regional Manager for New
South Wales and finally National Manager. I have a fundamental belief that people want to work to their full potential. Much of my energy in the past six years has been directed towards creating an environment where the personal and institutional barriers to people achieving their full potential are removed and finding the right tools to help me do it. |

Slatyer |
Judy Slatyer is the Managing Director of the
newly merged Sales & TI&CS group in Telstra's Commercial & Consumer Division.
This unit has the largest number of customer interactions in Telstra. Its job is to make
the lives of our consumer and small business customers easier through their relationship
with Telstra Judy's first job in Telstra was a 3 year stint with the International group
before moving to Telstra Multimedia where she worked to establish Australia's historic
pay-TV venture, FOXTEL. In January 1998 Judy tookup the role of Managing Director of
Telstra Information & Connection Services. In November last year, that group was
merged with the Sales group under Judy's leadership. Life before Telstra was concentrated around the politicians, more specifically Ralph Willis, the then Federal Treasurer, whom she served as communications adviser for four years. Ms Slatyer has a Bachelor of Arts degree and an MBA. And what's Judy life like outside the confines of her work environment? Well ... if you're out exploring the Sydney, Italian or French countryside and happen to see a frantic cyclist panting away on her pushbike, that'll be Judy getting away from it all and discovering new and exciting pubs and coffee along the way. Her ultimate priority is her family and friends. |
