Early in 2000, Belinda was appointed to the position of Corporate Diversity Manager for the AMP group of companies worldwide. This role is focussed on conducting organisational research and facilitating the adoption of best practices to transform AMP's culture and work practices and position AMP an Employer of Choice. A particular emphasis is to ensure AMP's diversity strategy continues to develop and to expand the successful focus on diversity in Australia to AMP businesses internationally.

Our goal is build teams of people with the diverse skills, experiences and approaches which arise from differences in age, race, gender and physical ability; and also differences in education, social background, thinking and communication styles. By valuing diversity AMP has been able to access the best talent, improve performance and retain employees' skills and experience.

Prior to moving to this role Belinda was manager Equity and OH&S Services for AMP Australia for three years. In that role Belinda worked with AMP managers and Human Resources staff to develop a strategic approach to occupational health and safety, employee equity and to building on the diversity of the AMP workforce. Working with the business, she led the development of AMP's Work and Family strategy for which AMP received the gold award in the 1998 Corporate Work and Family Awards.

Prior to joining AMP Belinda held similar positions within the finance sector and in the public sector. She has also held generalist HR positions and spent 18 months in a line management role where she managed a public service regional office.

Belinda is passionate about helping organisations transform to become more effective and better places for people to work. Her qualifications include a Bachelor Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) and a Gradudate Diploma Safety Science (UNSW).

Belinda will present the strategy used to transform AMP's organisational culture to meet the challenges of becoming a listed company. AMP has used measurement extensively with its 21000 staff to inform organisation development strategy. Culture and climate measures form part of AMP's Balanced Score Card to achieve high performance, excellent staff outcomes through strategies (such as "Employer of Choice") and enhance profitability.
