The 6th Australian Conference on Culture and Leadership The Culture-Performance Connection: Research Results Book By Matthew Croxford, Human Synergistics International Page 1 of 3 Leadership drives culture. Culture drives leadership. For many years now Human Synergistics has been illustrating the intensity of the relationship between leadership and culture. As a systems loop, leadership impacts on culture and culture impacts on leadership. Both combine to impact on performance.
Leadership Impact Research Results This important publication is split into two parts. First, the book presents research from the Leadership/Impact diagnostic tool with over 1,300 senior level executives in Australia and New Zealand. This data represents significant information on the impact leaders have on those they lead and what leadership strategies these leaders use to create that impact. This impact represents what the leader encourages and discourages in the way of behaviour amongst those being led. Over time, these expectations become the 'norms' - the way we do things around here - and thus become the culture. In understanding the relationship between leadership and culture, the first step is to examine what behaviours are those in leadership positions encouraging/rewarding and discouraging/punishing? In other words, what behaviours are being reinforced by our leaders, through the way they lead? Next page: Suggestions for Building Leadership Effectiveness
